What is Fimo nail art?
Fimo (fee-mo) is a brand of polymer-based, man made clay. It is non-toxic and useful for a variety of handicrafts. You can view the msds for Fimo clay, here. We use Fimo clay to create intricately detailed images in the clay, similar to making holiday candies or cookies that have an image encased in the food. Slice after slice, the image stays the same.

We create the picture with the clay itself, by building the image section by section. Usually the design is quite large after it is built. The log of clay is then squeezed and stretched to reduce the diameter of the design. This compressing of the clay will not alter the image much, if done slowly and carefully. Once the design is at its proper diameter, we cut it into sections and bake it at 275 degrees fahrenheit, to harden it.
After hardening, the clay can be cut with a rigid blade into paper thin slices. The slices can be embedded between layers of acrylic or gel products.
